Cultural Activities

GSS conducts seminars and symposiums periodically to educate the members about the importance of these seven basic principles so that the upcoming generation will be focused on their carriers. In the past, GSS conducted seminars in the society, such as

  1. Brahmasree Sachidananda Swamikal (Board member- Sivagiri Matt) conducted the special “Divya Prabodhanam” two times.
  2. Brahmasree Swasadeekanada Swamikal (President Sivagiri Matt) conducted special discourses.
  3. Sivagiri Matt Thanthti Sree Narayana Prasad made many preaches to the members.
  4. Famous scholar and philanthropist Sri Biju Pulikkaladethu (Headmaster, SN School, Idukki) conducted a three-day discourse, “Thrippadha Pooja.”
  5. Prof. MK Sanu (a famous Indian writer and critic) conducted a Shilpa Sala.
  6. M. Mukundan (a famous Indian writer and critic) made a discourse.
  7. HE Dr. Mar Kurils Thirumeni (Thirivalla Arch Dioses)
  8. Vellapalli Nadesan (SNDP Yogam General Secretary) made a discourse.

Uniqueness

  • GSS Regularly conducts medical camps in coordination with various private hospitals, and it is very proud to inform you that subsidized privilege cards are being provided to members.
  • GSS conducted blood donation camps many times in gratitude towards the Bahrain Community.
  • During the pandemic period of COVID-19, GSS distributed food kits to needy people, irrespective of their nationalities, and arranged air tickets for some of the members to their hometowns when they lost their jobs.
  • Constructed and handed over a home to a member who lost his life in Bahrain due to Covid-19.
  • Provided ten wheelchairs to handicapped people through the Isa Town Royal Humanitarian Foundation and through the Isa Town Social Charity Society.
  • Financial help to members who are struggling to settle their kid’s school fees, provided textbooks, uniforms, shoes, bus fares, and so on.
  • Financial assistance for medical treatment of deserved members.
  • Financial help for members to reach hometowns during the unexpected demise of their dears.
  • Humanitarian aid works with community partners to provide meals, water, and other necessary commodities to a section of affected people during the 2018 flood disaster in Kerala.
  • Conducted programs like yoga and counseling courses with the coordination of eminent personalities and organizations.
  • Conducted quiz competitions among students to stimulate their educational qualities.
  • Allowing youths to express their talents in front of the members eliminates their stage fright and increases their self-confidence.
  • Conducts drawing classes, dance classes, and music classes for kids and youths.
  • Since the Kerala Government started the Malayalam Mission for non-resident Keralites students to learn Malayalam, Bahrain was the first state to implement this venture, and GSS is proud to declare that we are in line with the process. Presently, GSS has a total strength of around 60 students for various classes under the Malayalam Mission.

Activities

  • GSS celebrates Bahrain National Day, the Prophet’s Birthday, Ramadan, and Eid Al Fitr.
  • GSS celebrates Indian Independence Day and Indian Republic Day.
  • GSS actively celebrates Vishu, Onam, Deepavali, Navarathri, Sivarathri, Christmas, and New Year.
  • Yearly conducting picnics with the intention of energizing healthy relationships among members and stimulating mental relief among students.
  • GSS has a descend library with several books and a library room.
